AkuPureTM CMC in lithium-ion battery

AkuPureTM CMCs are specifically suited for aqueous binder systems in lithium-ion battery anodes which are used typically in combination with graphite and Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) in anode coating to improve binding strength of active graphite on the copper collector. SBR alone cannot generate sufficient coating rheology and slurry stability for graphite powder. Therefore, applying AkuPureTM CMCs will provide excellent dispersion of graphite particles and homogenous distribution of the binder.

The AkuPureTM CMC optimize the performance of aqueous binder system in lithium-ion battery:

  • Excellent adhesion, typically in combination with Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR), providing high coating quality
  • Low levels of insolubles:
    • Prevents filter clogging for an efficient production proces´
    • Ensures a defect-free coating for optimal performance of lithium-ion battery electrodes
  • Ultra high purity (>99.5) with best-in-class low levels of trace metals
  • Easily dispersible free-flowing powders to facilitate easy slurry manufacturing
  • Superb slurry stability and dispersion of graphite
  • Excellent battery properties, such as high temperature storage stability and capacity retention (tested on 18650 NMC-type lithium-ion battery)
